A Sept. 11 Facebook post (direct link, archive link) shows an image of President Joe Biden superimposed over a background of $100 bills.
“Biden gives homeowners $185,000 in CASH,” reads the post’s caption in Spanish. “This NEW EMERGENCY HOUSING STIMULUS for U.S. homeowners with a credit score above 600 has just been approved.”
The on-screen text in Spanish claims the government owes you $50,000 if you own your home.

Biden has not signed any stimulus plan that would send homeowners $50,000 or $185,000. There is no evidence such a program exists. The post making the claim directs users to a non-working website that is unaffiliated with the U.S. government.    
The post describes the purported payments to homeowners as a “new emergency housing stimulus,” but there is no evidence such a program exists. Biden signed several pieces of legislation into law in September, but none would send direct payments to homeowners. Congress, which holds the power of the purse, has likewise not passed any such legislation that would enable direct payments to homeowners.
The Internal Revenue Service, which distributes funds related to stimulus packages, does not mention such a program to assist homeowners on its website.
“This has nothing to do with the IRS,” Alejandra Castro, a spokesperson for the IRS, said in an email to USA TODAY. “I haven’t heard anything about this.”
There are also no credible news reports about a new program that would send tens of thousands of dollars to American homeowners who have a credit score over 600.

When users click the link included in the Facebook post, an “access denied” warning appears. The URL for the website linked in the post is unaffiliated with the U.S. government.
The IRS warns about scams on social media and advises users to protect themselves against misinformation by following its official social media accounts and newsletters.
The government did provide direct stimulus payments to citizens during the pandemic, but the last of those payments was issued in 2021, according to the Treasury Department. In March, Biden announced a plan to create a $10,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers and those who sell their “starter home” to buy a new home.
USA TODAY reached out to the user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
